Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, with preparations underway across the Union Territory for special prayers.

Major congregations are expected at prominent mosques and shrines in the Valley, including Hazratbal, Khanqah-e-Moula and other key religious places, where thousands of devotees are likely to gather for Eid prayers. Clerics will deliver sermons highlighting the message of peace, charity and brotherhood.

Markets across Srinagar and other districts witnessed heavy rush on the eve of Eid, as people thronged shops for last-minute shopping despite inclement weather.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended greetings, saying Eid-ul-Fitr reflects the spirit of compassion, sacrifice and service to humanity, and prayed for peace, prosperity and happiness for all.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also greeted the people, stating that Eid is a celebration of gratitude, unity and generosity after a month of fasting and prayers, and hoped the festival strengthens harmony and brotherhood across the region.
