CHENNAI: Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a massive search operation across the State in connection with the alleged scam in recruitment of teachers to polytechnic colleges by the teachers recruitment board in 2017.Searches are underway in about 18 premises at Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai. The original case pertains to fudging of marks to manipulate final results of candidates to secure posts through middlemen in the exam conducted by TRB. Central crime branch (CCB) of Chennai police registered a case in 2017 after an internal inquiry confirmed that about 200 candidates paid money to middlemen to inflate their score upto 100 marks to secure teacher posts in govy polytechnic colleges. Chargesheet in the case has already been filed in 2021 and trial is underway. ED sources said that they have registered a fresh case to probe the money laundering act and launched searches in places linked to the accused in the case.
