Prayagraj: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 3.94 crore belonging to JVL Agro Industries Ltd in connection with an alleged Rs 1,970-crore bank fraud-linked money laundering case. The latest attachment follows searches conducted at 13 locations linked to Varanasi-based businessman Satya Narayan Jhunjhunwala and the company.Earlier, the ED had attached assets worth Rs 879 crore in the same case. The money laundering investigation was initiated on the basis of a CBI FIR registered against JVL Agro Industries, its promoter Satya Narayan Jhunjhunwala and others.According to the ED, the company and its promoters allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy that caused losses of more than Rs 1,970 crore to a consortium of banks. The agency alleged that the proceeds of crime were siphoned off through multiple entities, including firms allegedly controlled by family members, relatives and shell companies, for personal gain.The ED has already filed a prosecution complaint before the designated court against Jhunjhunwala and 24 others. However, it has not disclosed the location or details of the Rs 3.94 crore worth of assets attached in the latest action.Further investigation into the alleged money laundering case is underway.
