Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has cancelled 12 special trains on various routes across Odisha due to poor passenger turnout. The cancelled trans are Puri-bound and Puri-originating, according to an official travel advisory issued by the railway zone.ECoR said the trains were withdrawn after a review of passenger occupancy on the affected routes. Railway officials advised passengers to check the revised schedule and make alternative travel arrangements before starting their journeys.The special trains cancelled are up and down services between Puri-Berhampur, Puri-Keonjhar, Puri-Paradip and Puri-Angul.For journeys commencing Monday, ECoR has cancelled the up and down trains between Puri-Daspalla and Puri-Bhadrak.The affected trains were introduced as special services to improve connectivity on several intra-state routes during Rath Yatra. However, railway authorities said inadequate passenger response made their continued operation unviable.Officials urged travellers to verify train status through railway enquiry systems and authorised digital platforms before heading to stations.ECoR has also rescheduled some trains originating from Puri due to the late running of link trains. Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express left Puri at 7.30 am on Sunday instead of its scheduled departure time of 5.30 am.
