Lucknow: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has prepared logs made of cow dung for eco-friendly Holika Dahan. The civic body is selling the logs both online and offline.The logs were manufactured at Kanha Upvan where cow dung is processed through machines and then dried in open ground. Officials said the initiative promotes sustainable practices while making use of available resources at the shelter.
Animal welfare officer Abhinav Verma said burning logs made from cow dung helps purify environment and reduce pollution. He said traditional beliefs also associate cow dung Holika Dahan with positive energy and minimal environmental harm compared to wood burning.The logs are priced at Rs 5 per piece. Free home delivery will be provided on purchase of more than 200 logs.
