Hyderabad: The two-day Rurban Home Expo held in the city this weekend brought together developers, prospective homebuyers and sustainability advocates to discuss the evolving idea of nature-led communities. Organised by Organo with The Times of India as media partner, the event at Novotel HICC drew a steady stream of visitors exploring alternatives to conventional city living.Participants from varied backgrounds, including IT professionals, entrepreneurs, healthcare workers and families, attended the expo to understand how emerging housing models are responding to concerns around congestion, environmental impact and quality of life. More than 10 projects were showcased, each presenting different interpretations of eco-conscious living spaces that combine natural landscapes, energy-efficient design and shared community infrastructure. Discussions revolved around the growing interest in homes that prioritise open spaces, ecological balance and community interaction. Developers and visitors exchanged ideas on how residential environments can be designed to ensure built infrastructure coexists with greenery, farming practices and wellness-oriented planning. The expo also highlighted the shift in expectations among urban homebuyers, many of whom are evaluating living spaces not just by size or location, but by their impact on lifestyle, health and environment.“Rurban living brings together the comforts of urban life with the calm and ecological richness of rural landscapes. These communities are designed around biodiversity, farm living, and climate-responsive homes, allowing residents to stay connected to nature while enjoying modern amenities. It offers a more balanced way of living away from the noise, pollution, and pace of city life,” said Nagesh Battula, founder and CEO, Organo Eco Habitats.
