Nagpur: With Maha’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 moving beyond enumeration exercise into the crucial voter-roll preparation stage, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S Chockalingam on Friday reviewed progress across East Vidarbha and directed election machinery to ensure that every remaining stage is completed accurately and within prescribed deadlines.At a review meeting held at Niyojan Bhavan in Sadar, Chockalingam took stock of district-wise SIR work in Nagpur and other East Vidarbha districts. Officials made presentations on the progress of the revision exercise in their respective districts.The review covered entire chain of work including contact with electors, house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), rationalisation of polling stations, publication of draft electoral rolls, the revised SIR schedule, filing of claims and objections, issuance of notices and their disposal, and eventual publication of the final electoral rolls.Chockalingam stressed each stage of SIR is critical and asked officials to ensure there is no delay in completing the prescribed work. He also called for close coordination among district collectors, deputy district election officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and BLOs so that the revision is carried out transparently, accurately and within the stipulated timeframe.Divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Nagpur collector Kumar Ashirwad, Bhandara collector Sawan Kumar, Chandrapur collector Vasumana Pant and Gadchiroli collector Avishyant Panda attended the meeting.
