Ahmedabad: Two persons were injured after a fire broke out at a sevai-making factory near Kalupur bridge, opposite the Sherkotda police station, in the early hours of Friday. The fire control room received an emergency call at around 2.23am.According to fire officials, large quantities of oil and other combustible materials stored in the factory caused the flames to spread rapidly, triggering panic in the area. Fire brigade teams from Gomtipur, Panchkuwa, Naroda and Maninagar rushed to the spot to control the blaze.
Firefighters carried out a major operation to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures. The injured persons were provided medical assistance. Further details about their condition were not immediately available.Meanwhile, a 34-year-old labourer who had suffered severe burns in a fire at a snack manufacturing unit in the Madhavpura area earlier this week died during treatment on Thursday morning.Police identified the deceased as Kailash Vanjara. He was injured when a fire broke out at a namkeen factory near the Hanumanpura BRTS stand around 3am on March 3. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was triggered by a short circuit inside the unit.Vanjara, a resident of the Maheshwari Industrial Estate in Hanumanpura, had sustained serious burn injuries and was admitted to Civil Hospital.Madhavpura police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation into the incident.
