New Delhi: A 15-day road closure has left residents in this Dwarka area asking a basic question: where are they supposed to go? A stretch near the Delhi Jal Board booster pump in Madhu Vihar has been closed for RCC road construction, leaving residents and commuters struggling with diversions and congestion as, they allege, clear alternative routes and adequate roadside signage are missing.According to a traffic advisory, the carriageway from Rajapuri towards Madhu Vihar will remain closed for around 15 days from Wednesday. Traffic on the affected stretch and adjoining roads is likely to be impacted. Motorists have been asked to follow diversion signs, traffic directions and instructions from personnel deployed in the area.“Without giving an alternate route to residents, they simply closed all the entry and exit routes. There was no notice on the roadside. This morning, residents found themselves confined to their colony for the next 15 days,” one resident posted online Wednesday. Another commuter wrote, “You both have made the life hell of Dwarkaites. You both failed in managing roads and traffic in Dwarka. It’s almost one hour and I couldn’t cross the 2km stretch from Rajapuri to Sector 1, Dwarka.”Adding to the frustration were non-functional traffic signals in the area, residents said. They are now demanding clearer diversion routes, better signage, functional traffic signals and arrangements to ensure uninterrupted local access during the construction period.
