Based on tip-off about illegal gratification for securing layout approval

Chennai: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seized ₹14.5 lakh in unaccounted cash during a surprise raid at the Gerugambakkam Panchayat office near Porur on Tuesday following information that a bribe was to be paid for layout approval.Panchayat president Jagadeeswari Sundaresan was questioned in connection with the case.According to DVAC officials, the raid was conducted after the agency received a specific tip off about the payment of illegal gratification for securing layout approval. A team led by DVAC deputy superintendent of police Immanuel Gnanasekaran carried out the surprise inspection at the panchayat office.During the search, officials recovered ₹14.5 lakh in unaccounted cash, which was seized for further investigation.Investigators questioned Panchayat president Jagadeeswari Sundaresan regarding the source of the funds. DVAC officials were continuing their inquiry to determine whether the seized cash was linked to bribery. Further legal action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
