Chennai: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested Ponneri sub-registrar Sankar and two private document writers after they were caught accepting a ₹15,000 bribe from a man for releasing registered property documents on Wednesday.The complainant, Natarajan, had registered two properties at the Ponneri sub-registrar’s office. Sankar, along with private document writers Ramesh and Nithya, demanded ₹15,000 from him for releasing the registered documents.Unwilling to pay the bribe, Natarajan approached the DVAC’s Thiruvallur detachment and lodged a complaint. Based on his complaint, the officials registered a case and organised a trap on Wednesday.During the trap operation, Ramesh received ₹15,000 from Natarajan on the instructions of Sankar, according to the DVAC. The vigilance officials then arrested Sankar, Ramesh and Nithya in connection with the case.The three were subsequently produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. The DVAC continued its investigation into the bribery at the Ponneri Sub-Registrar’s Office.
