DVAC recovers ₹82L during surprise checks at 35 taluk offices

Chennai: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Friday conducted joint surprise checks at 35 taluk offices across Tamil Nadu and recovered ₹82.1 lakh, including ₹13.78 lakh in unaccounted cash and ₹68.32 lakh in suspicious digital transactions, during the statewide drive. In Chennai, inspections were carried out at the Egmore, Sholinganallur, Mambalam and Perambur taluk offices, where officials recovered ₹84,900 in unaccounted cash and detected ₹6.88 lakh in suspicious digital transactions.The highest unaccounted cash seizure in Chennai was reported at Mambalam Taluk Office (₹42,900), while the Sholinganallur Taluk Office accounted for the highest suspicious digital transactions at ₹6.36 lakh. Statewide, the Krishnagiri Taluk Office recorded the highest cash seizure at ₹2.22 lakh, while the Karur Taluk Office topped the list in suspicious digital transactions with ₹16.33 lakh.According to the DVAC, the inspections were aimed at identifying unaccounted cash and suspicious financial transactions in revenue administration offices. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and nature of the seized cash and digital transactions.
