Chennai: Police arrested two men in Rajasthan in connection with a series of six burglaries at a commercial complex in Flower Bazaar reported on Jan 25.The suspects—Ishwar, 42, and Kanpat Singh, 38, both natives of Jalore district in Rajasthan—were arrested on Jan 27 after police tracked their movements to Surat in Gujarat.Ramesh Kumar Jain, 55, who runs a beauty products shop on Reddy Ram Street in Flower Bazaar, found his shop burgled on Jan 25 night and cash stolen from the safe. In the same building, the shutter lock of a shop run by Pawar Lal was broken, and 65,000 in cash was stolen from the safe. The locks of four more shops—one nearby and three on the first floor—were broken, but no money or goods were stolen.Jain filed a complaint at the Flower Bazaar police station crime wing. Police registered a case and launched an investigation. A police team examined CCTV footage and tracked two suspects. The team traced them to Rajasthan and Gujarat, travelled to Rajasthan, and then went to Surat. With the help of local police, they arrested Ishwar and Kanpat Singh in Surat on Jan 27.The duo was produced before a criminal magistrate court in Surat on Jan 28. Police obtained a transit warrant and brought them to Chennai by train. They were produced before a magistrate court on Monday and remanded in judicial custody. Ishwar has a robbery case pending against him, while Kanpat Singh has a robbery case and a theft case pending against him in Bengaluru.
