Dumka: Four men were arrested for trying to create an atmosphere of terror for extortion in Lalmatia, Balbadda and Meharma police station limits of Godda district on Friday evening, the police said on Saturday. The men, aged between 20-25 years, were arrested in a raid at Kokra Khas village under Balbadda police station limits.The accused were identified as Mithilesh Kumar Das (25), Suman Kumar alias Sonu (20), Pyarelal Tanti (20), Pawan Kumar Das (22), all residents of Kokra Khas village.Three country-made pistols, two crude bombs, two live and one blank cartridges, three motorcycles and six phones were recovered from them. Police said the accused evolved from petty troublemakers into a coordinated criminal network which was involved in murder, kidnapping, extortion and firing incidents.“The accused have confessed to multiple crimes including the murder of a 13-year-old boy over a local dispute in Lalmatiya in the past,” Godda SP Mukesh Kumar said. On January 29 this year, the accused had abducted a trader for a ransom of Rs 5 lakh.
