Dumka: A domestic dispute turned devastating in Littipara block of Pakur district after a man allegedly set his own house ablaze, triggering a fire that gutted four other homes in Chhota Kutlo village on Thursday night.One of his neighbours, Chhami Murmu, 50, sustained burn injuries in the incident and is undergoing treatment at Pakur hospital. The accused was arrested by the police. According to police, Dhenna Murmu, 35, got into an argument with his wife, Lukhimuni Tudu, following which he set fire to his thatched house. The flames quickly spread to adjoining houses of Lakhiram Murmu, Chunus Murmu and Sonot Murmu, reducing them to ashes.Villagers attempted to douse the flames by pouring water, but their efforts proved futile due to intensity of the fire.Talking to TOI, block development officer of Littipara, Sanjay Kumar said, “The condition of the injured woman is stable. The accused’s wife and a minor boy were not hurt in the incident. Apart from interim relief items, process for suitable compensation through disaster management department is being also initiated.”
