Krishnagiri: A 31-year-old man who was intoxicated, died after he fell off a high-tension electricity tower near Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district on Sunday.The deceased has been identified as Venkatesan alias Chinnarasu, son of Vediyappan, of Thalapathi Nagar.Witnesses said he climbed the tower under the influence of alcohol, reached the top and sat there for some time before attempting to climb down. “During the descent, he lost balance and fell from a height of nearly 60 feet. He sustained a fatal head injury and died on the spot,” said a police officer from Singarapettai station.Police recovered the body and sent it to Uthangarai Government Hospital for a postmortem.A case has been registered and further inquiry is on.
