SONIPAT: Gangster Sandeep alias Kala Jathedi, lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, was brought to his native Jathedi village on Sunday on parole to attend the naming ceremony and religious rituals of his twin daughters.Jathedi’s arrival drew a large crowd, with people gathering outside his residence to catch a glimpse of him. Drums and traditional band music were played as the police vehicle carrying him reached the village.As Jathedi stepped out of the vehicle, he waved to those gathered before being escorted into his house amid tight security.
According to his wife Anuradha Chaudhary, the family had sought custody parole to allow Jathedi to participate in the naming ceremony and other rituals for their daughters. The twins were born through IVF, while Anuradha underwent a Caesarean delivery following complications during childbirth, sources said.Extensive security arrangements were made for Jathedi’s visit. A three-tier security cordon was put in place around the residence, with police personnel deployed at strategic locations. Visitors and family members were subjected to identity checks and security screening before being allowed inside.Access to the room where Jathedi met his wife and daughters was also restricted.Police spokesperson ASI Ravinder Singh said Delhi Police had written to Sonipat Police seeking security arrangements for Jathedi’s visit.After the naming ceremony and other religious rituals were completed, Delhi Police took Jathedi back to Tihar Jail.Jathedi has several criminal cases registered against him in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan, including cases of murder, attempt to murder and extortion. He was arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on July 30, 2021.
