Mahendragarh: A local court here has awarded a man from Rajasthan a 20-year jail term for trafficking of drugs.The court of the additional sessions judge held the prime accused, Ashok Kumar Yogi, a resident of Neemrana in Rajasthan, guilty of drug trafficking in a 2021 case.Ashok Yogi’s accomplices, Jagdish, Inderjeet and Yashpal, were each sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with monetary penalties.The case dates back to 2021, when a police team led by sub-inspector Yudhbir, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a suspicious vehicle near the Nooni Avval turn in Narnaul. A thorough search of the vehicle, conducted in the presence of a gazetted officer, led to the seizure of 5.345 kg of ganja (cannabis) and 3.075 kg of sulpha concealed in the boot and rear seat of the vehicle.Sumit Kumar, public relations officer (PRO), Mahendragarh police, said the district police were running a sustained anti-drug campaign, with teams actively pursuing traffickers and tightening the enforcement net across the region.Deepak Kumar, superintendent of police, Mahendragarh, said the department was operating under a strict “zero tolerance” policy against narcotics. “This 20-year sentence reflects our commitment to eradicate the drug menace,” he said.In 2025, the Mahendragarh police seized 1,111 kg of drugs and arrested 99 people.
