Itanagar: Police in Naharlagun apprehended a drug peddler and recovered heroin during a raid at Harekmaal Basti, Model Village, on Tuesday evening, police said.Acting on credible intelligence, a team led by Naharlagun PS officer-in charge Krishnendu Dev and others conducted a search operation at the suspect’s home, Itanagar Capital Region Naharlagun SP Nyelam Nega said.Police recovered 13.69 grams of heroin, including the weight of the containers, from the accused, identified as Md Atikul Islam, 35, the SP said.A case has been registered under Sections 21(b), 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been taken into custody for further legal proceedings.Reiterating the district police force’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics, the SP said the district police are committed to eradicating the drug menace from the ICR.
