Bhilwara: Phuliyakalan police in Bhilwara district recovered 750 kg of poppy husk and 6 kg of opium from two cars during a late-night crackdown on drug trafficking Friday. SP Sagar Rana said the estimated value of the seized contraband was around Rs 1.42 crore, with the poppy husk valued at Rs 1.12 crore and opium at Rs 30 lakh.The recovery was made during a blockade on the Bhim-Uniyara highway under the Phuliyakalan police station area. Police said the narcotics were being transported in two luxury cars.The suspects fled the spot after getting wind of the police action, taking advantage of the darkness. Police have launched an investigation to identify the accused and trace the suspected smuggling network.Investigators are examining the registration details of the two vehicles, mobile phone contacts and CCTV footage along the route to determine the source of the consignment and its intended destination.Rana said all police officers in the district had been directed to step up action against illegal drug trafficking.The seized contraband and vehicles were taken into custody and a case was registered under the NDPS Act.
