Gorakhpur: Body of a 21-year-old outsourced driver was found inside a municipal solid waste collection vehicle parked on the water tank premises, in Betiahata area, on Wednesday morning. Police sent the body for post mortem and launched investigation into the cause of death, police said.The deceased was identified as Mukesh Paswan, son of Manoj Paswan, resident of Nausad in GIDA police station area. Mukesh was outsourced as driver of a garbage collection vehicle under the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation’s system. According to police, Mukesh married a woman from another community around two months ago. Family members of both had reportedly opposed the marriage, forcing the couple to leave their village and live in a rented accommodation in the city.Mukesh’s wife reached the spot and police questioned her to ascertain whether the couple had received any threats or faced disputes after their marriage.Meanwhile, the victim’s family alleged murder. His father, Manoj Paswan, claimed Mukesh was killed elsewhere and his body was placed on the driver’s seat. Family members pointed to marks around the neck, alleging that he may have been strangled before an attempt was made to portray the death as suicide, said Cantt SHO Sanjay Singh, adding that no written complaint was received till Wednesday evening.
