Mohali: A pickup driver has alleged he was robbed of Rs 1.54 lakh by unidentified assailants near Trivedi Camp in the early hours of June 18, but police have expressed doubts over his version and launched a detailed probe.Abhishek, a Sangrur resident, told the Mubarakpur police post that he was returning in his Mahindra pickup around 4am after a delivery, carrying cash collected from sales. He claimed four youths intercepted the vehicle, pelted stones and damaged it, after which one of them broke the side window with an axe, assaulted him and snatched the cash.Police reached the spot and began an inquiry, but sources said the initial findings did not fully match the complainant’s account. Investigators are examining statements and gathering evidence to verify the sequence of events.Officials said no possibility has been ruled out and action will follow based on findings. No arrests have been made so far.
