Nagpur: A police head constable committed suicide by jumping into Ambazari lake following a family dispute. The incident came to light on Tuesday morning, police said.The deceased was identified as Shilratna Bhimrao Belekar, 45, a resident of Waghdara, Isasani. He was posted at Pratap Nagar police station.Police said, Shilratna had been having disputes with his wife for the past two months. Their son studies in Class 8 while their daughter is in Class 4. Both children were in Shilratna’s custody, and his wife used to persistently demand custody of the children, which led to disputes between the couple.Police said Shilratna did not go to Pratap Nagar police station on Feb 19 and had been absent since then. On Sunday afternoon, Shilratna went to meet his brother Ajay Bhimrao Belekar, 49, a resident of Kamgar Colony. After some time, he left the house and did not contact anyone thereafter. Ajay filed a missing person complaint at Pratap Nagar police station.Citizens who came for a morning walk spotted a body floating in Ambazari lake on Tuesday morning, following which a citizen informed Ambazari police. After receiving the information, a police team reached the spot and found an identity card in Shilratna’s pocket.Ambazari police registered an accidental death case and started an investigation.
