Patna: In a major breakthrough, a joint operation by the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Patna Police led to the arrest of alleged gangster Sanjay Singh, chief of the ‘Pandava Sena’ and one of Bihar’s most wanted criminals, at Patna Junction in the early hours of Tuesday.Acting on specific intelligence, STF personnel and police laid a trap at the railway station and arrested Sanjay around 2am after he arrived by the Vikramshila Express from Delhi with his wife and children. The arrest ended years of efforts to trace the fugitive.According to Bihar STF officials, Sanjay had been absconding for several years and was wanted in a 2025 Bihta police station case involving the recovery of an AK-47 rifle. Officials said he had managed to evade arrest despite sustained efforts by multiple agencies.Police said Sanjay has a criminal history spanning nearly three decades and is accused in at least 26 cases in Bihar and Jharkhand. His criminal record, dating back to 1996, includes allegations of murder, attempted murder, contract killing, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, criminal intimidation, rioting, illegal mining, land grabbing and offences under the Arms Act, the SC/ST Act, the Bihar Excise Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Officials said Sanjay is being questioned about pending criminal cases, the activities of the Pandava Sena and his network. Further legal action will follow the investigation.Soon after the arrest, Sanjay’s wife, Pushpa Kumari, released a video claiming her husband had been detained by the GRP. She said, “My husband was detained while travelling from Delhi to Patna. I fear something untoward may happen to him.”
