Patna: CM Samrat Chaudhary on Monday said the Patna Metro extension up to Malahipakri would be inaugurated on July 2, as he reviewed the project’s progress at a high-level meeting at Lok Sevak Awas.Chairing the meeting, the CM directed officials to complete all components of the Patna Metro within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on construction quality. He described the metro as a key urban transport project aimed at making travel in the state capital modern, safe and convenient.“The Patna Metro is an important project that will make the city’s transport system modern, safe and convenient. No laxity will be acceptable in its implementation,” he said, asking officials to prepare clear action plans and timelines for each phase and ensure strict monitoring.Chaudhary also instructed officials to minimise inconvenience to residents during construction. He stressed the need for effective and scientific traffic management around work sites and called for a comprehensive study of Patna’s traffic system. Based on the findings, an integrated traffic management plan should be prepared to provide a long-term solution to congestion, he said.Urban development and housing department minister Nitish Mishra attended the meeting. The CM said work should proceed rapidly and simultaneously at multiple sites to ensure timely completion.He said metro operations would provide residents with a safe, fast, modern and world-class public transport facility. The project is expected to reduce traffic pressure, lower pollution levels and ease daily commuting, he added.The CM also directed officials to prepare the master plan for the proposed Patna satellite township within the prescribed timeframe.During the meeting, UDHD principal secretary Vinay Kumar and officials associated with the project gave a detailed presentation on progress. The review covered the proposed Corridor 1 from New ISBT to Akashvani and ongoing work from New ISBT to Mithapur via Jaganpura.
