Prayagraj continues to play a crucial role in the railway revenue chart

Prayagraj: The Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express, operating via Prayagraj and Ujjain on the Indore route, emerged as the highest revenue-generating train of the North Central Railway (NCR) in the financial year 2025–26, earning Rs 40.56 crore, according to the zone’s financial performance report.According to public relations officer, Prayagraj division, Amit Kumar Singh, the previous topper, the Khajuraho-Udaipur City Express, slipped to second place with earnings of Rs 39.98 crore. The widely used Prayagraj-New Delhi Express remained among the top performers but stood third with revenue of Rs 35.50 crore.Prayagraj continues to play a crucial role in the railway revenue chart, with five out of the top 10 highest-earning trains of the NCR originating from or passing through the city, highlighting its importance as a key passenger transit hub.Other major contributors included the Prayagraj-Lokmanya Tilak Duronto Express, which generated Rs 34 crore from 105 trips despite operating only twice a week. The Manikpur-New Delhi Sampark Kranti Express and Khajuraho-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express also featured prominently, earning Rs 31.98 crore and Rs 31.55 crore, respectively.Other trains such as the Prayagraj-New Delhi Humsafar Express and Kanpur-New Delhi Shram Shakti Express continued to register steady earnings, reflecting strong passenger demand on key intercity routes connected to Prayagraj.In a separate development, the NCR also announced a special train service from Subedarganj station in Prayagraj to Dadri, aimed at easing passenger movement towards Noida and Greater Noida. The service will operate from April 22 to 30 to manage increased travel demand.
