Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said that the state govt will provide funding for ongoing infrastructure projects in and around Hinjewadi IT park through District Planning Committee (DPC) or Public Works Department (PWD) in cases where PMRDA or MIDC are unable to fund these projects. He was speaking after meeting officials from PMRDA, MIDC, both Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations and other departments at Council Hall in Pune. He said that govt agencies, including PMRDA and MIDC, have already started various development works, and residents have expressed satisfaction, saying their concerns are finally being addressed to some extent. The construction of several new roads has been planned to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area, especially benefiting local residents and IT professionals. He added that action was taken against illegal constructions obstructing natural streams. “Stop-work notices have been issued to some under-construction buildings, and demolition of unauthorised structures has started,” he said.He said that a private agency is conducting a detailed survey on stormwater management in Hinjewadi IT Park. “Corrective measures will be implemented to reduce flooding in the area,” he added. PMRDA and MIDC are funding the infrastructure works, and for projects lacking financial support, additional funds will be allocated through the district planning committee or public works department, he added.Govt is also rectifying mistakes made by local gram panchayats, Pawar said. He cited the example of Maan gram panchayat which constructed a vegetable market on a natural stream, blocking the stormwater flow. “Such unauthorized structures will be demolished, and alternative spaces provided for public amenities. I have instructed PMRDA to recommend land from their reservations for these facilities,” he added. The district collector will share inputs with a secretary-level officer appointed to lead a high-level committee to investigate the Kund Mala Bridge collapse and prepare a report on all the unsafe bridges in the district, he said. “The PWD minister has informed the assembly about the formation of a committee led by a secretary rank officer to investigate,” Pawar said. The deputy CM has told the district administration to demolish all unsafe bridges that came up in their structural audit report. In some cases, the officials recommended repairs and funds will be made from DPC, he added.
