Vadodara: A Vadodara paddler clinched a maiden double crown by winning both the singles and doubles titles at the Master National Table Tennis Championship held recently in Pune.Laxmanrao Thakre defeated third seed Markad Purshottam of Maharashtra 3-1 in the semi-finals before beating Vivek Alvani of Maharashtra 3-0 in the final to win the singles title.Thakre also partnered with Shailesh Gosain of Vadodara-based Deesha Academy to win the men’s doubles 60-plus gold medal for the first time. The duo defeated top seeds Abir Basak and Debasish Saha 3-2 in the final.Earlier, they had beaten the Andhra Pradesh pair of Kokku Jayram and M Abbas 3-1 in the semi-finals.
