Hyderabad: US food commerce platform player DoorDash has opened its first India office in Hyderabad with a talent hub that it plans to expand from 500 employees to more than 3,000 over the next two years.DoorDash said the Hyderabad centre will initially house Customer Experience and Integrity, or CXI, and general and administrative teams, supporting the company’s global operations across consumers, merchants and delivery workers.The CXI operation will be the company’s third owned internal service centre globally, after Tempe, Arizona, and Mexico City, and will function as an extended arm of its global customer support organisation.The company said specialised integrity, fraud review and technical capabilities could be added over time. Its teams in Hyderabad will support a platform serving more than 56 million monthly active consumers across markets with a combined population of over 1 billion people.The facility, located in Hitec City, was inaugurated by Telangana IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu, along with DoorDash chief financial officer Ravi Inukonda, senior director for workforce strategy and talent acquisition operations Jenna Kohnke and state IT adviser Sai Krishna.Speaking at the inauguration, Sridhar Babu said DoorDash’s decision validated Hyderabad’s position as a global talent hub and strengthens the city’s hyperlocal digital commerce ecosystem. He said the investment goes beyond job creation by showing that global digital businesses could build and run critical operations from Telangana.He said the company’s arrival adds to Hyderabad’s growing cluster of global e-commerce and logistics technology operations providers, including Amazon, Walmart, FedEx, Uber, Zomato, Swiggy and other digital commerce firms operating locally.Kohnke said Hyderabad’s talent base, technology ecosystem and environment for global capability centres made it a natural choice for DoorDash’s long-term investment in India.DoorDash operates in more than 40 countries and recorded over $100 billion in marketplace gross order value in 2025.Hyderabad already hosts more than 500 GCCs, with the Telangana govt targeting over 100 new GCCs to create an additional 1 lakh new high-value jobs and over 3 lakh indirect jobs. More than 5 lakh people are currently working in GCCs in Hyderabad, with the number expected to touch 10 lakh by 2029, as per Telangana govt’s estimates.
