Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration will begin door-to-door waste collection from the households under Bagbera panchayat soon as a pilot project, officials here said.Along with Madhya Bagbera, Bagbera is one of the two panchayats in the district where the service will be rolled out by the first week of May in the first phase.Officials conducted a survey of the 1,160 households in these two panchayats between April 10 and 13. “The survey was to get the response of residents on the proposed daily waste collection in exchange of a monthly fee of Rs 100,” Jamshedpur block development officer Sumit Prakash said.After residents supported the plan, Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar pledged to provide a refuse collection vehicle (RCV) to the block office for waste collection and its disposal.“After the success of the plan in the two panchayats, initiative shall be taken to extend it to other panchayats in a phased manner,” Bagbera panchayat samiti member Sunil Gupta said.Officials said Bagbera and Madhya Bagbera panchayats have a population of more than 15,000.
