Nagpur: Govt officers should use artificial intelligence and other emerging tools to identify and resolve public grievances instead of waiting for citizens to approach them, divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari said on Wednesday.Bidari was addressing 104 newly appointed officers during the inauguration of the 12th batch of a two-year integrated pre-service training programme organised at Vanamati. She asked the officers, selected through the state services examination, to provide efficient and transparent services. The state govt has made the two-year training programme mandatory for new officers, modelling it on the training imparted to Indian Administrative Service officers. Apart from receiving practical exposure to governance and administration, officers completing the programme will be awarded an MA degree in Development Administration.Bidari urged the trainees to approach their responsibilities with a positive and people-centric outlook. “An officer’s conduct, discipline and willingness to learn would determine how effectively the training translated into public service,” she said.Vanamati director Asha Pathan said honesty, a strong sense of duty and proficiency in e-governance were essential qualities for govt officers. Their foremost responsibility, she said, was to ensure that welfare schemes and govt benefits reached citizens at the grassroots without corruption or leakages.CPTP director Suvarna Pande said the training would be conducted across four sessions. Stressing the importance of the programme, she urged trainees to attend every session.Training mentors Pradeep Deshpande, Ravindra Bhalerao, Sayali Khandekar, Narayan Nimje, Archana Solanki, Kirit Deshpande, Sudhar Naik, Indira Bhargav and Manjusha Dupari were among those present. Milind Tare conducted the programme, while chief training coordinator Swati Asave proposed the vote of thanks.
