Ahmedabad: A domestic help a Shahibaug businessman hired just over a month ago has allegedly decamped with Rs 4 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 14.5 lakh. The theft occurred between 11.30am and 3.45pm on Saturday, the businessman stated in his police complaint filed on Sunday.According to the complaint, the businessman left home for his shop at New Cloth Market on Saturday morning, locking his room. Around 3.30pm, when he checked the CCTV cameras installed at his house, he noticed the rear grille and the door of the domestic help’s room were open. Calls to the help yielded no response.When he returned home around 7.30pm, the businessman found the door to his room, the cupboard inside and its drawers and the locker open. The complaint states that Rs 4 lakh in cash and gold ornaments were missing.The family discovered a Civil Hospital booklet bearing the name Jayantilal and a Rajasthan address. According to the complainant, the help had identified himself as Kamlesh at the time of hiring.
