Patna: Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) has criticised the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) over repeated controversies surrounding the NEET paper leaks. The organisation called for a free, fair and independent inquiry into the alleged irregularities, without any political influence or conflict of interest. In a joint statement, IDPD president Dr Arun Mitra and general secretary Dr Shakeel Ur Rahman said the recurring issues pointed to administrative lapses and stressed the need for accountability at appropriate levels. The organisation said that the repeated controversies raised concerns about the functioning of the NTA. Referring to its nine years of existence, it noted that several examinations had been postponed during this period, which, it said, warranted a review of the agency’s processes to ensure secure and credible testing.Expressing concern over students, the IDPD said around 23 lakh NEET aspirants and their families were affected by the uncertainty and stress caused by the situation. It emphasised the importance of maintaining fairness and transparency in the examination system. The statement added that repeated disruptions could undermine public confidence in the education system. It also noted that for students who invest years preparing under challenging circumstances, any disruption in the examination process has a significant impact. The NTA had cancelled the NEET examination on Tuesday following allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities.
