HYDERABAD: DNA analysis by Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TGFSL) has linked accused Md Sanaullah, 34, to the alleged rape and murder of a 21-year-old nurse at Tukkuguda, providing forensic corroboration to police investigation.Sources in Pahadishareef police said investigators have received the forensic report, which found that the DNA profile generated from biological material collected from the victim’s private parts matched the accused’s DNA profile.

Forensic examination of other exhibits collected from the scene also yielded findings supporting the DNA match, sources said. The DNA examination was carried out by TGFSL DNA division.Mechanic lived near victim’s roomSanaullah, a bike mechanic and native of Begusarai district in Bihar, had come to Hyderabad in 2023. At the time of the offence, he was working and staying at a mechanic shop in Tukkuguda, close to the accommodation where the nurse lived.The nurse, who worked at a private hospital in Tukkuguda, was found dead in her room on Aug 29 after colleagues became concerned when she did not respond. Police initially registered a murder case under BNS Section 103 while awaiting forensic findings on suspected sexual assault.Police detained Sanaullah on Aug 30 and later arrested him in the case.Forensics strengthens police caseAccording to investigators, the accused had allegedly been watching the nurse’s movements for nearly a month. Police said he entered her room through a window while she was asleep and attempted to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he allegedly strangled her before escaping through the same window.Following the medical examination, police added rape provisions and sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.Investigators had earlier relied on technical evidence, crime scene material, hair strands and other forensic evidence while questioning the accused. The latest DNA report provides scientific corroboration, linking him to the sexual assault, police sources said.
