The protest follows a video on social media, in which the minister is allegedly seen crushing a “white powder” during an IPL match at Chepauk stadium, which he later clarified as a medicine for his child.
The video went viral on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

“It is the collective social responsibility of every individual to eradicate the menace of drug abuse, which destroys our youth and society, and create awareness against it. However, the actions of the minister in the ruling TVK government run entirely contrary to this responsibility,” a release from the DMK student wing said.
“In the name of giving a clarification, the minister appears to be hiding behind a child to play politics, which has become a standard tradition within the TVK”, the release alleged.
