Chennai: Parties in the DMK alliance queued at Anna Arivalayam to hold discussions with DMK to finalise the list of constituencies they wish to contest for the upcoming assembly election.Congress, DMDK, MDMK, CPI and Manidhaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) submitted a list of preferred segments to DMK. DMK sources said the discussion will continue on Thursday and the list of constituencies is likely to be finalised by evening, following which the list of constituencies is set to be released on Friday.Congress, led by AICC in-charge for Tamil Nadu Girish Chodankar and TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai, led the talks. They submitted a list of 40 favourable constituencies and asked DMK to allocate 28 seats out of the 40.DMDK submitted a list of 25 constituencies and asked DMK to select 10 out of the 25. DMDK treasurer L K Sudhish, who led the talks, said that almost 70% of the constituencies were finalised and the remaining will be finalised on Thursday.CPI state secretary M Veerapandian, who led the talks, said that they submitted a list of eight constituencies and asked DMK to select five out of the eight.MMK, which was allocated two seats, submitted a list of four constituencies and insisted DMK allocate two constituencies out of the four they submitted.Meanwhile, DMK allocated one seat each to SDPI, Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi and Mukkulathor Pulipadai in their alliance. All three parties will contest on DMK’s Rising Sun symbol.
