Times News NetworkKanpur: District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh on Monday in an inter departmental coordination committee meeting directed the officials that special attention should be paid to the city’s hotspot areas for prevention of vector-borne diseases. The meeting was held for successful execution of special vector borne diseases in the city.The DM said that all relevant departments including the municipal corporation, panchayati raj, and education will work in coordination with the health department. Information regarding any rise in fever cases in the area must reach the health department promptly so that immediate preventive measures can be taken.The Special Communicable Disease Control Campaign will be conducted from October 1 to October 31, and the Dastak Campaign from October 12 to October 31. The campaign will kick off at Sanigwan on October 1.Based on the number of vector-borne disease cases, areas such as Ambedkar Nagar, Kakadeo, Sanigwan, Kalyanpur, Sujanpur, Gujaini Colony, Panki, Barra, Swaroop Nagar, Ratanlal Nagar, Chaman Ganj, Tilak Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Sarvodaya Nagar, and Chunniganj have been identified as hotspots.Instructions have been issued to conduct special surveillance and preventive activities in these areas.The district magistrate issued instructions to set up fever help desks at the district hospital and all community health centers, and directed that fever patients be monitored regularly and that testing for malaria and dengue be ensured as required.He expressed his displeasure over the medical officer in-charge concerned not being informed in time about the increase in dengue cases in Kishunpura and directed to seek clarification from MOIC Chaubepur.The local surveillance system must be effective enough to ensure that the concerned medical officer is informed immediately upon any rise in fever or dengue cases in an area. Subsequently, a health department team arrived in Kishunpura and brought the situation under control by taking necessary preventive measures, he said.During the ‘Dastak’ campaign, teams of health workers will conduct door-to-door visits to identify individuals exhibiting symptoms of fever and communicable diseases, and raise awareness among the public about prevention against mosquito-borne and other communicable diseases.……………….
