Srinagar, Aug 15: Assistant Exhibition & Cultural Officer (AECO) of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Syed Shakeel Andrabi, popularly known as Syed Shakeel Shan, was conferred with a prestigious Award of Excellence by the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day at the grand Independence Day function held at Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar.
The award was presented in recognition of his outstanding work, professional excellence and multidimensional contribution to broadcasting, literature, culture and public communication.
The prestigious recognition acknowledges Shan’s sustained dedication, creative excellence and significant contribution across diverse fields. Over the years, he has established a distinctive identity through his versatility as a broadcaster, anchor, writer, poet, music composer and cultural activist, earning appreciation from administrative, literary, cultural and media circles.
Through his professional work with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Shan has played an important role in taking government initiatives, public-awareness campaigns and cultural programmes closer to the people. His distinctive voice, effective communication skills, creative expression and dynamic stage presence have made him a familiar and respected face in Jammu & Kashmir’s public and cultural landscape.
Besides his official responsibilities, Shan has remained actively associated with broadcasting, literature, music and cultural activities. His multidimensional abilities have enabled him to contribute to a wide range of programmes and public initiatives, where he has consistently used communication and the performing arts as effective mediums of public engagement.
Overwhelmed by the honour, Shan expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and the entire administration for recognising his work and contribution. He particularly thanked Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shri Anshul Garg, for his constant encouragement, support and appreciation, which, he said, have been a great source of motivation throughout his professional journey.
