Dibrugarh: The Dibrugarh district administration has issued a strong directive prohibiting the publication, printing, circulation, distribution, sale, exhibition, possession and storage of any radical or ‘jihadi’ literature, documents, materials or digital content associated with banned extremist organisations.The order was issued on May 11 by additional DM Pranjal Baruah and has been enforced under Section 98 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, in reference to an Assam Government notification dated Dec 3, 2025.The directive specifically targets content linked to banned outfits including Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), Ansar-Al-Islam/Pro-AQIS, and other similar proscribed or affiliated organisations. The prohibition extends beyond physical materials to cover websites, social media pages, encrypted channels, online groups and digital platforms propagating extremist content connected to such organisations.The communication has been addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dibrugarh, with instructions for strict compliance and necessary action. Police authorities have further been directed to report identified cases and subsequent actions taken to the DM’s office.
