Dharmapuri: The long-pending demand for an additional district court at Harur in Dharmapuri district was fulfilled on Saturday with the inauguration of the new facility.Chief justice of Madras high court, Sushant Arvind Dharmadhikari, inaugurated the court and delivered the inaugural address via video conference. He expressed hopes that the new court will ease the burden on the Dharmapuri principal district court, reducing pendency and ensuring quicker disposal of civil and criminal cases. “Residents of Harur, Pappireddipatty, and nearby areas will no longer need to travel 60km to Dharmapuri, cutting down on travel and legal expenses,” he added.Officials noted that the court will particularly benefit SCs, STs, women, farmers, and daily wage workers, enabling easier access to justice in matters such as family disputes, land issues, and debt cases. The establishment of the court is also expected to create new opportunities for lawyers, junior advocates, and court staff, while boosting Harur’s growth as an administrative hub.The ceremony at the Harur court premises began with a welcome address by C Thirumagal, principal district and sessions judge, Dharmapuri. High court judges S Srimathi, Port-folio judge for Dharmapuri, and G Arulmurugan also addressed the gathering virtually. Dharmapuri district additional judge Jyothi, district collector V Saravanan, Harur RDO Semmalai, and DSP Sathish Kumar were among those present at the inauguration.
