Ahmedabad: As the probe intensified into violence in Dhandhuka allegedly after a fatal stabbing, Ahmedabad rural police on Monday focused on reconstructing the sequence of events. The key accused were taken to key locations to recreate the crime scene where 29-year-old Dharmesh Gamara was stabbed and where the violence started. The police team took the accused, Rizwan Maniyar and Sameer Amdani, to various locations including the area near Swastik Complex and Naseeb Society, where the fatal assault allegedly took place. Officers said the exercise was aimed at verifying statements, establishing the chain of events and identifying roles of each accused. Amid the probe, rumours about another death in connection with the case spread in parts of Dhandhuka. Police clarified that no such incident had occurred and appealed to people not to circulate false information.In the wake of the murder and subsequent communal unrest, Ahmedabad rural police constituted a special investigation team (SIT) led by Dholka division DSP Prakash Prajapati. Superintendent of police Om Prakash Jat said the four-member team, comprising personnel from the Local Crime Branch and a PSI, is examining both the murder and the rioting incidents. Two FIRs were registered. The first, based on a complaint by Dharmesh’s cousin Rahul Gamara, names Maniyar and Amdani for murder and related offences. The second FIR, filed by PSI Harshrajsinh Zala, names 125 people for rioting, unlawful assembly and damage to property. Police said the situation in Dhandhuka is now under control and normalcy is being restored.
