ECR general manager Chhatrasal Singh inaugurates 71st Railway Week function on Friday

Patna: East Central Railway (ECR) organised its 71st Railway Week function at Rail Parishar here on Friday, with railway divisions, officers and employees receiving ‘Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’ for their contributions to the functioning and development of the zone. A booklet highlighting ECR’s achievements was also released on this occasion.ECR general manager Chhatrasal Singh presented commendation certificates to 95 railway officers and employees, while 56 shields and awards were presented to divisions and railway personnel for their performance in various categories.Dhanbad division won the overall ‘GM’s Efficiency Shield’, while Sonepur and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) divisions were declared joint runners-up.According to ECR chief public relations officer Saraswati Chandra, Sonepur and Samastipur divisions jointly won the top award for public grievance redressal through Rail Madad for handling passenger complaints and resolving grievances.Danapur division received awards in several categories. It was adjudged the best-maintained division in the environment category and also won shields for ticket checking and public relations. It received the colony care shield for maintenance of railway colonies, while Rajgir station won the cleanliness station award.DDU division received the shield for best track maintenance. In the freight loading category, Dhanbad and DDU divisions were joint winners for their performance in freight transportation. DDU also secured the top position in cleanliness and passenger amenities, Chandra said.Speaking at the function, Singh highlighted ECR’s performance in passenger services, freight transportation, infrastructure development, safety and digital initiatives. He said the awards recognised the efforts of railway employees and divisions towards improving passenger services and strengthening the railway network.The function concluded with cultural programmes. Earlier, Singh and ECR Women Welfare Organisation president Sunita Singh jointly lit the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the event.
