Dhanbad: The scrutiny of nomination papers for the post of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation mayor was conducted on Thursday in accordance with election rules to ensure transparency and compliance with guidelines, election officials stated.Nomination papers of three candidates—Akhileshwar Mahto, Sushil Kumar and Pushpa Kumari—were rejected.A total of 33 candidates had filed their papers for the mayoral post. Following the scrutiny, 30 nominations were found valid and accepted, clearing the way for the next phase of the electoral process.The process was carried out in the presence of general observer Robin Toppo and was supervised by returning officer-cum-additional collector Vinod Kumar, along with assistant returning officers Bal Kishor Mahto and Vishal Kumar Pandey.The last date for withdrawal of nominations is Friday. The allocation of election symbols to the candidates will take place on February 7. Polling for the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation elections will be held on February 23. The counting of votes is scheduled for February 27.
