Lucknow: Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Sunday said that the overwhelming turnout of devotees during Navratri at Maa Vindhavasini Dham in Mirzapur reflects the deep-rooted faith of the people, while announcing that a comprehensive plan is being prepared to further strengthen security and facilities for pilgrims.Speaking to reporters during his visit, the DGP said it was a “privilege” for him to offer prayers during the nine-day Navratri festival. “The sea of devotees here clearly reflects their faith and devotion. I pray that the Goddess blesses everyone with peace, harmony, happiness, and prosperity,” he said.Highlighting the importance of ensuring a safe and smooth experience for pilgrims, the DGP said that discussions have already been held with senior officers regarding long-term improvements in security arrangements at the shrine. He stated that an integrated security plan is being prepared, combining multiple systems such as public address (PA) systems, CCTV surveillance, a central control room, and deployment of water police.“The aim is to create a coordinated and technology-driven system so that devotees not only remain safe but also have a better and more convenient experience,” he added. The DGP further said that efforts are underway to finalise and approve the proposal within the current financial year. Once cleared, the plan will be implemented to enhance overall crowd management, monitoring, and emergency response mechanisms.Officials said the proposed system will help in real-time surveillance, better coordination among security agencies, and quicker response to any untoward incident, especially during peak pilgrimage periods like Navratri.
