Biharsharif: A 30-year-old man, who was detained by police, sustained critical injuries after allegedly jumping from a staircase at the Biharsharif Town police station in Nalanda on Wednesday morning. The injured has been identified as Virendra Kumar (30), son of Rajendra Pandit, a resident of Sosandi village under Rahui police station limits.Kumar was picked up a day earlier by a Dial 112 team for his safety after he was found behaving abnormally and was brought to the police station for verification.According to a press statement issued by SDPO Biharsharif Nurul Hoda, efforts were made to contact his family through Rahui police, but the family expressed their inability to come. On Wednesday morning, Kumar reportedly ran towards the staircase on the pretext of using the toilet and climbed upstairs. Despite attempts by the duty officer and constables to stop him, he jumped from the staircase and sustained serious injuries.He was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors provided primary treatment and found injuries to his waist and arm. On medical advice, he was referred to Bhagwan Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences (BMIMS), Pawapuri, and later shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) as his condition deteriorated, the SDPO added.
