Hours after they had an extended conversation, the man from Maharajganj in UP — who had been deported from Mauritius a week back — allegedly died by suicide at a rented accommodation in Dundahera village. He was found hanging from a bamboo staircase by other tenants on Monday morning, after which Udyog Vihar police were alerted. On his return on June 24, he didn’t visit his family in UP and arrived in the city to seek employment. His visa was denied once following which he made a second attempt and went on a tourist visa.Police said he took a flight to Mauritius from Mumbai airport on June 16, obtaining his tourist visa through a Bihar agent. “Since he could not remain in Mauritius after his tourist visa expired, he was prohibited from working there without a permit. After struggling, he was deported to India and stayed in Gurgaon in search of work instead of returning home. He was deeply depressed and had an extended conversation with his wife on Sunday night, during which she attempted to console him, but he took the extreme step,” ASI Jai Bhagwan, the investigating officer, said.A cousin said his brother had requested a refund from the agent upon returning to India, but the agent declined. The family also blamed the agent for the man’s death by cheating him with wrong documents.ASI Bhagwan said after the autopsy, the victim’s body was handed over to the family. Investigation is on.
