Hyderabad: Alleging that Congress govt was intentionally denying irrigation water to farmers, BRS working president KT Rama Rao demanded chief minister A Revanth Reddy govt to stop using the water issue for political gains and switch on Kannepally pump house for irrigation water. KTR said the party is fighting against Revanth Reddy solely on his governance and policies and for people of Telangana, not personal. He also declared he would take up Padayatra next year.In an informal chat with media in Delhi, KTR said the state govt was not lifting the water taking the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) cover and denying water to farmers is nothing but a criminal act. He visited Delhi 76 times, but he did not bring any funds to the state and did not meet the NDSA officials also.“The NDSA is the only an advisory body and that ownership and decision-making powers over the project rest entirely with the Telangana govt. The CM is using the NDSA as an excuse to avoid filling the reservoirs and alleged that water was being released downstream for political reasons rather than public interest. The govt should immediately construct a cofferdam, switch on the Kannepalli pumps and provide irrigation water to farmers,” he demanded.Even after completing 31 months in office, he alleged, Revanth Reddy spends more time attacking BRS than addressing public issues, the BRS leader said. “If BRS is a finished party, as the CM repeatedly claims, why does he attack us every single day?” he asked.KTR alleged that CM Revanth Reddy had become nervous after four recent political surveys reportedly indicated growing public support for the BRS. He expressed confidence that BRS would return to power and K. Chandrashekar Rao would once again become the CM. He also announced that he would undertake a statewide padayatra next year to directly interact with people and understand their concerns. On the TRS party title, KTR said the party has a 22-year emotional association with it and reminded that TRS was the movement that achieved Telangana statehood and later formed the government. He questioned how anyone could expect Telangana society to accept another party claiming that identity.Expressing confidence in the party’s future, KTR said BRS would emerge stronger in the coming elections and that Telangana’s interests would remain the party’s foremost priority.ends/
