Patna: The body of a 22-year-old delivery boy was found hanging in his rented accommodation in Saristabad (Aklu Chowk) area under Gardanibagh police station area in the state capital on Friday.The victim, Rahul Kumar (22), a native of Masaurhi, had completed his Intermediate and had been living in Patna for the past six months while working as a delivery executive. The incident came to light when the landlord noticed a foul smell emanating from the premises, police said.Rahul shared the rented room with his cousin brother. However, the cousin had recently gone back to their village to help with seasonal farming.Gardanibagh SHO Pramod Kumar said the police received information about the suicide and have started an investigation.“The landlord, Yogendra Prasad, noticed a foul smell coming from the room in the morning and initially assumed a stray animal had died nearby. Upon checking Rahul’s door, he found it locked from the inside. When repeated knocks went unanswered and the smell intensified, the landlord alerted the police, who subsequently recovered the body hanging inside,” the SHO said.Rahul’s family said there were no disputes between the brothers. Furthermore, they are financially stable and Rahul had never mentioned facing any trouble or stress. The family remains confused as to why Rahul took this extreme step and has not expressed suspicion toward anyone, said police.Rahul’s elder brother, Rakesh Kumar, said, “Rahul last spoke to their mother on July 13 night.”The SHO said the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has collected evidence from the incident site. Further legal proceedings will be initiated based on the formal written application submitted by the victim’s family. Initially an unnatural death (UD) case has been registered, he added.
