Jhunjhunu: The Bhaleri police of Churu district successfully rescued a Delhi youth who was kidnapped for a ransom of ₹1.2 crore Thursday. The police arrested five armed suspects involved in the crime.On Thursday, authorities received intelligence about suspicious individuals travelling in two Thar vehicles in the vicinity, armed and potentially dangerous. Acting on this crucial information, the Bhaleri police, led by Additional SP Richhpal Singh Charan and Dy SP Rohit Sankhla, moved swiftly.The police initially intercepted one of the Thar vehicles, leading to the arrest of three suspects: Gulab Singh (from Taranagar, Churu), Sukhbir alias Tony (from Bhiwani, Haryana), and Jayaprakash alias JP (also from Taranagar). During the arrest, police allegedly recovered an illegal pistol and two live cartridges from their possession, confirming the grave nature of their intentions.Upon interrogation, the suspects disclosed that they, along with their accomplices Anil Kumar and Rajveer, kidnapped Raghav Oberay from Delhi on July 18. Subsequently, the group transported him to the Bhaleri-Taranagar region, where they demanded the exorbitant ransom from his family while subjecting him to physical assault and threats at gunpoint.Following the leads from the initial arrests, police arrested the two absconding associates, Anil Kumar and Rajveer. The kidnapped victim was safely rescued and has since been reunited with his family.Churu Superintendent of Police Nishchay Prasad M confirmed that a case of kidnapping was registered against the accused in Delhi. The police seized the two Thar vehicles used in the crime, which bore fake number plates, along with mobile phones and other key evidence.The investigation is ongoing, and officials anticipate that further disclosures may arise from the questioning of the suspects as they delve deeper into the case.
