Abhijeet Dipke’s grandmother, passed away in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was detained by Delhi Police at the airport after arriving in the national capital from Mumbai to participate in the CJP’s proposed protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Delhi Police on Saturday said Dipke had been informed about his grandmother’s death and the scheduled funeral, and that he had been offered assistance to travel to his hometown on humanitarian grounds. The family’s latest statement raises questions about whether he has been able to communicate with them.
